Artist Picture

I’ve been an artist since I was a kid, an occupation I kept up in high school with numerous art classes. I graduated from the University of Michigan, where I studied biology and creative writing-- but I still did art as a way to relax amid an overwhelming schedule. My first professional opportunity came when I joined WEREAD, a student-run organization that created children’s books and read them at schools in the Detroit Area. Each year one of the books would be professionally published by the small press company Marketing New Authors (MANA). While my book didn’t win, I was able to get a freelance illustration job at MANA, thanks in no small part to the then-president of WEREAD.  I perform a variety of creative tasks for MANA, including: cover illustration and design, interior illustration in both black & white and color, and text layout.

After graduating college my fiancée (now wife) and I began our travels all over the world, which still continue today whenever we get the opportunity. The landscapes we’ve seen—the Mars-like crater of Haleakala in Maui, the sandstone arches of the southwest, the pyramids of Chichen Itza and the columnar basalts of Ireland's Giant's Causeway just to name a few-- have greatly influenced my work, as has my background in biology.

I currently live in Connecticut with my wife, three parakeets and several fish.
